Intentional Abstraction

Abstract art is not about putting color patches next to each other. Abstraction is taking a realistic notion, and breaking it down to its essentials. Exposing its bones, its essence. It is the art of deviation, enabling the viewer to look at it just a little differently. It is knowing how to look at things in the face and saying, I can look deeper. There is a purpose, a theme, a flow and a design to abstract art.

The Dreaded Creative Slump

Every creative person who crosses your path will tell you that this creative slump has no end date, it is scary as can be and the more we try to think about it, the deeper the slump pulls us in. The spark, enthusiasm, impetus and momentum is missing and that is what artists fear the most.

While everyone has their own approach of breaking out of a creative rut, here are some of the things you could try when you feel stuck in the meh days. When the momentum is missing and you try hard to find the spark.

The Mad-Men Modern style evolution

How does an artist find a style? Or does the style find the artist instead? Is there such a thing as a "style" or is it what feels right in that moment? For me, it has been a daily practice of feeling and expressing something onto a surface, till it felt right and authentic to what I was hoping to achieve.

Healing with Art

Art, or any kind of creative practice is a way to reclaim and celebrate our authentic selves. It is mean of self expression, a channel for emotions and feelings. A perfect way to explore our immediate moment, to relax and think about where we envision ourselves, and where we want to be headed.

The Blues Run the Game - Moody Blue moodboard

The very first mood board features my favorite color: Moody Blue. Deep dark and dramatic, this rich blue is like a walk at midnight, the deepest part of the river, flowing like the royal blue ink in an glass ink pot. Harmonizing beautifully with wood accents, deep walnuts, mid century modern inspired decor. Compliments the earthy tones of burnt orange, terracotta, sunshine yellow and off whites.

The Relaxed Scandinavian-Bohemian style

Scandinavian-bohemian combo is a delectable blend of a scaled-back and insanely stylish version of the free-spirited aesthetic set within the confines of a clutter-free zone. Maybe it's our perpetual state of wanderlust that resulted in this style, maybe it was the need to add color to the neutral, but the end result is this artful mix of a cool "undone" yet curated boho-chic look.

Choosing An Abstract

When choosing a piece of abstract art, choose one that gives you immense joy and excitement all at once. Choose one which makes your eyes dance along its shapes, or colors which draw you in. Choose bold art to make a statement and choose a style that speaks your language. Find large scaled abstracts to create drama, or small ones to balance a room.
